It seems that phones today aren't really meant to be used to call people anymore. They are rather like a small computer. So much so that today, companies are creating phones just for certain internet sites in order to further social media. Sites, such as facebook, have become a new way of connecting to people and the world around them. So why not have your social life in your pocket? Much like Apple's and Google's phones, Facebook is creating its own phone as a way to make this possible.
I just want a phone that calls people, when I want to go online, I go to my laptop.
ReplyDeleteIn a recent conversation with some friends who have purchased the new iPhone the whole topic of "dropping calls" inevitably came up. It honestly surprised me that one or two of them mentioned that although its annoying to have calls dropped all the additional features make purchasing this new phone worthwhile. I find this somewhat odd seeing as the whole reason to have an i"Phone" in the first place is to use it make calls - or so I thought. This brings up the question - did Apple avoid a complete product recall because they knew that people are beginning to use phones not necessarily to make actual phone calls?
ReplyDelete@ebrehm Interesting question, I personal opinion is I don't think they did a recall because 1. they would lose money and 2. terrible press. BUT, that being said, your question bring up a very interesting conversation that could last for hours. One might be able to even say yes, I might, as I find calling people now 'taboo' and almost demanding, I rely on texts 99% of the time.
