Internet Censorship - Who is the Worst?
This article about global internet censorship brings a comparison of a number of different countries and how they censor their internet. It shows some pretty interesting things between countries. China, as many already know is the most censored country on the internet. Government authorities try to "ensure that no new window of free expression opens up" as the article states. Initially targeting chat forums and websites, the article says that the Chinese government now targets video exchange sites and blogs - an internet communication form that 17 million people in China use. Other countries that are compared, such as Cuba, have a much smaller internet population, however just as much censorship. Private internet connections in Cuba are illegal even though only 2 percent of people are online. Cubans must go to a public place where internet is available so that things are more easily monitored. When people use this internet, certain key words that may be subversive immediately trigger an alert message to software installed by the Cuban police.

Toby makes a good point on this in his post about North Korea. It's interesting how we see China as the biggest culprit (though maybe only because they are physically big and economically powerful).
